Objective

To provide the $40B/yr US remanufacturing community with one point of contact in obtaining education in the following areas:

Note that remanufacturing is a process in which not-new and new materials are assembled. The purpose of the remanufacturing process can be one, or a combination of the following:

  • Assure the safety of a product
  • Extend the planned economic life of a product
  • Assure the planned economic life of a product

The APICS Remanufacturing & Service Parts (REMANSP) Special Interest Group (SIG) and “Reman U” of the The Remanufacturing Institute (TRI) are presenting a conference at the “International BigR Show” on October 28 through November 2 at the Riviera Hotel In Las Vegas. Expansions

Glaval Bus, of Elkart Indiana, has announced the grand opening of the Remanufacturing Service Center. The service center will be able to do repairs, upgrades or complete remanufacturing of any bus size, make or model.

Glaval Bus manufactures mid-size buses for transit, charter, tour and shuttle operators, offering expertise in servicing or remanufacturing older or damaged buses.

Glaval Bus, Division of Forest River Inc., has been manufacturing "transportation solutions" for over 30 years

Electrical Maintenance Services (EMS) opened a remanufacturing facility located in Howard, SD. It is dedicated to the E-15 35 kW or 65 kW wind turbine, capable of producing 50,000 kWh to 180,000 kWh per year, pending wind velocity.  For more information, go to http://www.energyms.com/advice.html.


State Auto Repair Laws

  • 37 states require disclosure statement of non-OEM remanufactured part use on estimate.
  • 10 states require consumer consent required for use of non-OEM remanufactured parts
  • 22 states require manufacturer's name or logo ID# required on remanufactured part
  • 27 states require warranty must be provided by remanufacturer of non-OEM part
  • 5 states require disclosure about the effect of a remanufactured part on auto's new warranty
  • 11 states require non-OEM remanufactured parts must be "of like kind and quality" to OEM parts
  • 9 states have no limits on the use of remanufactured parts. They are:
     
     Alaska  District of Columbia  Delaware  Maine  Vermont
     Montana  North Dakota  New Mexico  South Carolina
